First launch notes

Two macOS prompts matter for BackPlace: Accessibility and Gatekeeper.

Accessibility

  1. Launch BackPlace after downloading it.
  2. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
  3. Enable BackPlace so it can read and restore window positions.
  4. Return to the app and refresh the permission state if needed.

Without Accessibility access, BackPlace can open but cannot capture or restore windows correctly.

Gatekeeper

  1. Move BackPlace into Applications.
  2. Control-click the app and choose Open on the first launch.
  3. If macOS still blocks it, open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  4. Choose Open Anyway and launch again.

This is expected for the current unsigned release build.
